How much do you love coffee, enough to buy a poopuccino?

The world loves coffee and with its insatiable appetite for the best brew, the poop from the Kopi Lukwak or Civet is highly sort after. At $30 a cup it’s not your everyday brew.

What makes this coffee special is how it’s made. The Civet consumes coffee cherries as part of its diet and excretes partially digested enzymatically rich coffee cherries. This is said to give the coffee a richer smoother flavor. At $700 per kilogram US it’s definitely one of the world’s most expensive blends which for the coffee aficionado could just be the Holy Grail.

Coffee or not it’s still poop right?

The down side to the coffee poop market is the cute little fury guys doing all the pooping. I am sure there are some humans who would make a fortune if they could get paid to poop for a living. The Civet however is not so fortunate being kept in cages and force fed coffee cherries to encourage their $700/kg poopsicles.

Other than a supposed better flavour I can’t tell you if there are any nutritional benefits.

Well for now, I am going to stick with poop free, fair trade coffee.

Many of us want to make positive changes in our lives but find it hard to get motivated to start.

When it comes to creating change we have to ignite the fire in the belly and ask our self: “Why do I want to create change in my life”? The reason must be powerful enough to inspire and motivate you, like seeking out a Dentist for a severe tooth ache or a Naturopath for help with psoriasis.

We are motivated by our experiences of dissatisfaction and pleasure to take action in our current situation. It is our experiences that shape our answer to this question- “I want to create change because I feel like crap and I don’t like!” Our experiences can therefore shape our current behaviours, and whether our experiences are positive or negative may motivate us to change our behaviours or stay the same.

Driven by the dissatisfaction or disharmony of our experiences, we may decide to take action and change our behaviours to bring about fulfillment, harmony and balance into our lives. With some training and awareness you may start to realize that life is a journey of self-mastery.

So what has to do with food? Everything!

In some cases food can be a short term pleasure with long term imbalance, such as obesity, diabetes and addiction to caffeinated beverages.

Our love of food represents much more than mere sustenance and our food choices are guided by more than just hunger. It’s about our connection to family/friends, religion and cultural experiences. Food is intertwined into many aspects of our lives, celebrations, holidays, birth and in death. Ultimately, if you’re unhappy with the food choices you’re making then it’s time to consider these social and environmental aspects when answering the question “why do I want to create change in my life”?

Our overwhelming desire for foods that are experiential has led to the emergence of state of “foodtopia” seen as abundance, indulgence and excess. Food Food Food and more Food!

Our “foodtopian” society has resulted in an explosion of choice and availability, which is both a blessing and curse. Food is revered for its ability to heal on one hand and a catalyst for disease on the other.

What if food was impacting your state of being? Without any utterance of the “D” word (diet), food can serve to impede change/motivation. I have observed this phenomena in my own life with particular foods. I found that by removing foods such as wheat, yeast, sugar, dairy I started to think differently. I was working with a Chilean Nutritionist about 10 years ago who noticed I became depressed and experienced mood swings when eating wheat. WOW! This was news to me, no one talked about this at college.

So what if you are trying to create change in your life but the food you’re eating is betraying your body and causing an imbalance in your brain chemistry affecting your moods and emotions. Holy Cow Batman this could revolutionize your state of wellbeing. I am waiting for the personal development industry to jump all over this topic. I have a saying that I use in our practice, dirty fuel on the gut = dirty fuel in the brain! As coach and a Naturopath/Nutritionist I have transformed my entire life through eliminating a few foods from my life. When I don’t do it, I soon know about it pretty quickly. So, “why do I want to create change in my life?” so that I continue to improve my moods, emotions and state of being! And it’s a circle- With improved state of being I can continue to make positive changes in my life with more ease.

The Paleo Debate Rages On!

Is the Paleo Way of eating really the best approach for your health? As the debate rages on, I am going to add my 2 cents, well I am probably going to give you $10 bucks worth actually. So hang in there as we all aboard the paleo train.

Why chuck my 2 cents into the ring, well because I have philosophy that’s opposed to sticking to a diet regime of any type. Please don’t get me wrong I am not about to suggest you be complacent about foods, it’s more about food quality and foods that work for you!

In recent episodes of Channel 7’s Sunday Night show that follows Mike Willesee and Pete Evans on the paleo journey. After 10 weeks with the help of Pete Evans, Mike Willesee has remarkably achieved great results while following the paleo diet, which is awesome achievement on Mike’s part.

So Paleo or not to Paleo, so let’s look at some factors to consider:

  • Digestive Health – this means exactly that! Is your digestive system functioning as well as it can to handle breaking down fats / proteins? Alternatively are you producing enough digestive enzymes, and is the gut lining health to absorb nutrients.
  • Ethnicity – some foods may not suit your ethnic origin
  • Immune System – when jumping on a fad diet, you may encounter foods that you have never eaten before and if you have a history of food allergies, it’s always best to start slowly.
  • Your current state of health – it’s always advisable to check with your Naturopath or health professional to see if this is suitable for you.

I really do like a lot of aspects of the paleo diet, but are there considerations that need to be considered before making the switch.

  • Have you have an allergy test done?
  • Do you suffer with indigestion or reflux?
  • Are your bowls moving properly or do suffer with IBS?
  • Are you under-weight or overweight?

Lastly I don’t believe in diets, I believe in REAL WHOLE FOODS! I much prefer to choose foods on the following basis:

  • The Quality of the food ie wholefoods vs processed
  • The Origin of the food (local Vs Imported)
  • The suitability to my body
  • How it was prepared (ie Microwaved Vs Steamed, Blanched ect)
  • Toxicity of the Food (Organic Vs Sprayed)

The question I want you to ponder is this diet really for me?

The Power of Thought, Words and Intent

Now imagine the human body with a water content of around 65% and how words might affect the state of health of the body, the organs, the tissues and the cells. It suggests how crucial it is to choose your words and decide how you might impact someone’s day or that of your spouse and children.

Thought Leadership!

Let’s take this concept to the next level to an area that I feel is even more significant, “Thought” To me the human body is like a massive transmitter/receiver of information, thoughts emotions and feelings. I believe It is so powerful that it can affect life itself, you the organism.

What if your own self talk and subconscious are working against your wellbeing? How do you your own thoughts impact your health? Over a life time this could be momentous. Have you ever monitored your thoughts and do they really support you and your well-being. If words and thoughts are so powerful “Thought Management” needs to become an important part of daily life. You may never be in control but you are in command. You have choice to allow each thought go rogue or decisively take command.

How Do You Think About Others?

As I mentioned, I like to think of the human body as a transmitter/receiver because our thoughts can be felt by others, our family and we can feel and receive, perceive and feel theirs as well. Here is an example, you walk into a room with a couple and you can tell that they have been fighting, or when you are in the traffic and you can tell someone is looking at you.

We are Just like a massive satellite dish or TV network both transmitting and recieving. We are surrounded by 24/7 transmissions from People’s thoughts and emotions in our communities, at our work places and in our homes continually. We have the choice to release how we feel about others or hold them trapped in a limited identity (bad thoughts).

It means letting go of the negative judgments and energies within us. This is not just for others but for your health as well. Imagine turning up to work and not being attached to the “Jerk” and repositioning your thinking from your heart why is he that way, does he have the skills to process his emotions, does he have the right nutrients to support social interactions.

The bottom line is that you will have more energy for you and your family, which is not wasted on carrying around a bunch of ill feelings and emotions. Watch people change when you let go and don’t give off or receive negative thoughts, words or emotions. You may need to practice or learn some strategies but it makes life so much more lighter.

Changing Communities One Thought at a Time!

This whole article is about the power of words, and thoughts.as we transmit and recieve constantly and often unknowingly. It’s about taking responsibility for your thoughts, words and emotions at a personal “Self” level which in turn that ripples out through communities. Heavy Metal Detoxification

OMG You Won’t Believe What Came Out of Me!

It was the biggest SHOCK Ever, considering I live a very healthy life, I don’t drink, I don’t Smoke, and rarely eat processed foods. A friend of mine suggested I do a detox foot bath. Now I have to tell you that I thought these foot bath detox things were just a load of phooehy.

You just wait and see the photo I took, and just check out the toxic crap that came out of my body (check out the photo below). What really hit the nail on the head for me was the smell. I could smell a putrid metallic aroma coming from the detox bath and it was nasty.

What does spark my curiosity is if I am living a clean eating healthy life, and this is what came out of me. What are the rest of you going to be like! I couldn’t believe the science experiment that was growing in the water, it was simply unbelievable.

I have always been somewhat skeptical of these footbath doodads, and speaking to my friends about their technology I have to say I am impressed and a little freaked out. They have sent previous samples off to the lab for analysis to see what was actually in the black soup. The lab results were to say the least terrifying! Can you imagine what may be hidden beneath the surface after a life time of poor habits! It really is quite concerning.

The reality is that with continued industrialization, environmental toxicity is only going to continue to get worse. My clients will often ask “Where Did This Come From”. The truth I feel it’s practically everywhere we turn. Just look around your home, cosmetics, personal care products, laundry products, garden sprays, fertilizers, carpet sprays, insect sprays and also paints and other hardware products.

Being proactive in your choices is now a must. What products you consume may impact your health.

It’s a Case of Rubber Brain

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Is a thought a thought or is it something else altogether. A thought can bring happiness, ecstasy, entertainment and at the same time can bring about our deepest fears and pain. Thoughts can take on a life of their own morphing into a tale that winds and twists.

I talk a lot about the subject of thought plasticity, remember the Robin Williams movie “Flubber” where he plays a scientist who invents this super bouncy rubber stuff. Imagine if you will a single thought as “Flubber”, random, unpredictable bouncing uncontrollably throughout your mind until it collides with another thought. The new thought takes over from the previous and is just as unpredictable and random.

Before long thoughts collide into thoughts, colliding into thoughts spiraling into the infinite consciousness. You might even loop through cycles of thoughts, experiencing emotions with each thought, exacerbating any vulnerabilities and potentially heightening your deepest fears.

It’s a phenomenon which many experience and may just see it as a normal part of life. The question begs, do your thoughts control you or do you have command of your thoughts. Redefining Normal starts with thought leadership and thought discipline. STOP NOW and Realise that You Are in Command.

Thought command is a skill that I have been developing and practicing regularly, It began when my world collapsed 12 months ago. I was heartbroken and defeated and it took everything that I had just to function. Today it’s a different story. It’s a result of some very cool habits and techniques that I engage. I really believe with practice it can help get you back into the game called living.

There are no magic tricks, just practice with some very specific nutritional tools that help keep you at optimal neural performance. Let me say this, you are so much more powerful than could ever imagine. It’s start with the elimination of the Limited Identity that you may hold about yourself and the role you play in the world.

My Redefinition Began with a simple belief that I am greater with so much to offer that I will no longer hold myself to playing small. I can tell you that my life is a different place from 12 months ago. I urge everyone who suffers with disobedient thoughts to reach and come and talk to my team about the strategies we use each day.

I don’t believe anyone should be living with a mind that betrays who you really are.
